today, sum1 approached me from some voluntary organisation that helps matches to ppl with leukemia or other blood-related cancers. and they were gathering bone marrow donors, and when da person approached me i was like “hmm, am i too skinny to donate mi marrow??”…apparently not…so den i was like, “but very painful lei the method i mean i’ve seen on TV so many times…PAIN LEI”…to which she calmly reassured me there was no need to stuff a needle thru ur bone, but they can stimulate ur stem cells by some injection so a couple of daes later they can remove the stem cells from ur blood…painless as blood donation!!
hmm...den i found out an even more interesting fact…she approached me cos she said that mi ‘community’ was lacking donors and said if i din donate mi marrow i cud be taking da life of another indian person, whoa mi response: “wow i dint noe bone marrows were racist??”…which she cooly apologised saying that it was due to the bone marrow was a tissue, and hence it has to match genetics!!!
So now yal noe ah!!
